United had dominated English football before Roman Abramovic took control of Chelsea
I almost thought United’s reign had come to an end when Chelski came in to fruition. Arsenal had made a good go of it too. More recently it appears that City could be that team that takes over the crown of English number one.
Liverpool fans will argue that they are still England’s glory team, but I think the rest of us think that may all be in the past now.
Sir Alex saw off 150 managers
An astonishing figure of over 150 managers came and went in the English League while Fergie was in charge at United. Some managers had second, third of fourth spells at the same club in that time too.
Not everyone likes Fergie. Not everyone appreciates the tapping of the wrist in the 67th minute of each game, not everyone appreciates the mind games he plays, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for his brutal analysis of referees.
No manager will match him in our lifetime
But to be fair, the man has been in charge of one football team for over a quarter of a century and has achieved success that I doubt any other manager will be likely to match in our lifetime.
I think even the most hardened football fan would doff there cap to Sir Alex. It’s a shame he wasn’t English; that way would probably have won the World Cup a few more times by now. United will have to get used to life after Sir Alex
