The Mail report that Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale claims the team spirit at White Hart Lane will the key factor in Spurs succeeding in both the Premier League and Europa League for the rest of this season.
The North Londoners face a battle to qualify for the Champions League, with both Chelsea and Arsenal breathing down their necks in the league.
They are also in the quarter finals of the Europa League with Swiss side Basle their opponents on Thursday.
Gareth Bale has been the star of the team this season, and scored his 22nd goal in all competitions in the 2-1 victory over Swansea on Saturday. The Welshman has stated that he thinks the squad is strong enough to compete in both competitions.
Speaking to Eurosport he said: “We are a very close group as a team. We’re comfortably able to finish fourth in the league and competing for third – we’ve got to take it game by game.
“We can push on in the Europa League as well against Basle. We want to do as well as we can in both competitions.”
AVB hoping for a Euro double
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas won the Europa League during his time at Porto, and he will continue to play his best team available for the ties. He believes momentum and confidence are more important than the need to protect key players from fatigue and injury as Spurs enter the final stretch of the campaign.
With Chelsea still in the FA Cup and Tottenham still in the Europa League, some may say that Arsenal’s absence in other competitions will give them the edge in the race for fourth.
However, Arsenal are the side with the most to do, currently sitting four points behind Tottenham in the Premier League table.
