A report in the Metro suggests that Lukas Podolski could be on his way out of Arsenal less than a year after joining them.
Galatasaray are said to be preparing a £12m bid for the German as they look to add more star names to their side.
The Turkish giants signed superstars Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder in January and are also interested in Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben amongst others.
They want to build on their impressive run to the quarter finals of the Champions League this season, which ended in an aggregate defeat to Real Madrid although they did win the second leg of the tie 3-2.
Podolski has said that he wants to stay and fight for his place in the Gunners first team after having an inconsistent first season in the Premier League.
The German has scored nine goals in 30 Premier League appearances which is not a bad return as he has been predominantly used in a wide position by manager Arsene Wenger.
Busy transfer window at the Emirates
The Frenchman may take the decision out of Podolski’s hands if he decides to cash in on him to raise funds for new players.
There is an expectation that there will be a major overhaul of the Arsenal squad in the close season, with Wenger and his board stating several times this year that they are willing to spend big to end the club’s eight year trophy drought.
Arsenal last won a trophy in 2005 when they lifted the FA Cup but haven’t made it past the Champions League quarter finals since 2009 and are currently 21 points behind champions Man Utd in the Premier League.
The continuing lack of success has led to pressure on Wenger and the board to splash the cash and Podolski may be one of the casualties of a whirlwind transfer window at the Emirates this summer.
