Liverpool defender Daniel Agger could be leaving the club this summer with Barcelona likely to be the destination.
The Catalan giants are long term admirers of the Danish international and enquired about him last summer. Reports in today’s Daily Mirror say that they will return this summer with a concrete bid.
With captain, Carlos Puyol approaching his 35th birthday, Barcelona are looking for reinforcements to shore up their defence. They have put Agger, who has played over 200 games for Liverpool at the top of their shopping list.
However, Brendon Rodgers is desperate to hold on to his defender, especially with Jamie Carragher set to retire and Martin Skrtel rumoured to be heading back to Zenit St Petersburg. Rodgers is looking to sell Andy Carroll at half the price the club paid for him in order to fund the signings of new defenders.
Agger has been a first team regular at Anfield for 7 years and is passionate about the club. He even has the letters ‘YNWA’ tattooed on his knuckles. However, at 28 years of age, he may find a switch to the La Liga superteam difficult to resist.
