Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has caught the eye of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers who is considering bringing him to the club.
The 24-year-old Shaktar Donetsk star has been in impressive form scoring 18 league goals in just 17 games as his club have won all but one of their games this season.
The Daily Telegraph report that Mkhitaryan is on Rodger’s shortlist to fill the ‘number 10’ role at Anfield next season. Rodgers has previously said that he has drawn up a shortlist of at least three players for every position he felt needs strengthening.
Eriksen is another target
Mkhitaryan would be likely to cost at least £12m but Rodgers has other options planned for the number 10 role if the move comes to nothing. He is also keeping a close eye on Ajax star, Christian Eriksen.
According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have watched Eriksen playing for Denmark in the week. They hope that his links with countryman, Daniel Agger and former Ajax team mate, Luis Suarez will help to persuade him to join the Anfield club.
The 21-year-old is a star in the making and his contract runs out at the end of next season. His refusal to sign a new deal has alerted many clubs around Europe. Liverpool will face competition from Tottenham, Chelsea and Inter Milan who have all been like with the youngster.
Eriksen already has 34 international caps and won two Dutch titles. He has scored 10 goals in 38 games so far this season to help fire Ajax to the top of the table and a chance of winning their third title in a row.
