Brendon Rodgers has been told not to give up hope of signing striker Kevin Gameiro from Paris St Germain.
The 25-year-old was a Liverpool target in January before they completed the signing of Daniel Sturridge.
He has been struggling for a place in the starting line up at PSG and according to the Daily Mail he was furious to have been left on the bench last week.
PSG are closely monitoring Wayne Rooney’s situation at Manchester United and are ready to pounce if the England forward becomes available. That would push Gameiro further down the pecking order at the French club and clear the way for Liverpool to swoop.
Rodgers has said that he is looking to bring in three or four signings in the summer with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity. It is thought that he feels players are needed to come in and make an immediate impact on the first team.
Liverpool have a number of good young players breaking into the first team who could act as cover and having more quality players in the squad will only benefit them in the long term.
