Former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has revealed he would be keen to return to the Premier League.
The Ivorian left Chelsea last summer to join French side, Lille, after winning the Champions League in his last game for the club.
It seems he is missing the Premier League already, after less than a season away. The Sun today quotes him saying: ““I’d love to go back to England. I spent six seasons there and I am crazy about the Premier League.”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of Kalou and may be interested if the price is right. Wenger plans a revamp of his squad in summer and Kalou’s versatility will make him an attractive proposition.
Do the fans want him?
However, it is unlikely that the signing of Kalou would be met with much excitement from Arsenal fans. Despite spending six years at Chelsea, Kalou was never first choice and was used as a squad player and substitute for most of his time there.
Arsenal fans want a big name player that will step straight into their first team and move them closer to a genuine title challenge. It’s doubtful that Kalou will be that man.
He will have other options in the Premier League though. He built a reputation as a solid performer during his time at Stamford Bridge, and no doubt a host of Premier League sides would be interested in him.
When asked about his potential next move, Kalou replied: “Players’ careers change so quickly — you never know what will happen tomorrow.”
