Stamford Bridge is starting to look like the most likely destination for Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure, if the Ivorian doesn’t sign a new contract soon.
That is according to a report in today’s Metro. Chelsea are leading a pack of Champions League big guns who are all monitoring the 29-year-old’s situation very closely.
Earlier this week, Toure and his agent stunned the champions by demanding a contract offer be put on the table by Saturday or they would start to look elsewhere.
Toure feels City have been disrespectful
Toure’s agent said that while the midfielder, who is the highest paid player at the club, wasn’t looking for a pay rise, he found it disrespectful that the contract talks had stalled for six months.
Since then it has become clear that if City won’t offer Toure a contract, there are plenty of other big clubs who will. Chelsea are joined by Real Madrid, PSG and even City’s rivals Manchester United in the hunt for his signature.
New look team for the Blues
With Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard, set to leave in the summer, Toure is seen as an ideal replacement and would be likely to cost around £22m.
If the Ivory Coast star was to join the Blues he would be likely to be stepping into a new look Chelsea. The club’s have finally lost patience with Fernando Torres and are looking at signing Radamel Falcao. Today’s Metro also reports that Brazilian Hulk could be a target for the club.
