Brazilian striker Hulk has alerted Premier League clubs after refusing to play down talk of a move away from Zenit St Petersburg.
The Daily Express report that the 26-year-old international is aware that both Chelsea and Tottenham are interested in bringing him to London.
It is no secret that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of Hulk and rumours that the striker would be joining the Blues had begun to gather pace even before the Portuguese arrived for his second spell at the club.
AVB needs a reliable striker
Tottenham boss Andre Villas Boas who was part of Mourinho’s backroom staff at Chelsea is also interested in the Zentit star. He has grown frustrated with Emmanuel Adebayor who had a disappointing season after arriving at White Hart Lane on a permanent basis.
Despite impressing during a loan spell a year earlier, Adebayor only managed five goals in 24 Premier League games last season. His inconsistency cost Tottenham points and ultimately a place in this year’s Champions League.
AVB wants a reliable striker to share the burden with Jermaine Defoe who also went quite for spells last season.
Hulk refused to rule out a move
Hulk was careful not to burn any bridges with Zenit fans but refused to rule out a move. He told a Brazilian reporter: “Those approaches [by other clubs] do exist, there are clubs interested in me.
“But if I am to move, it has to be to a better place, with a better team in a better competition. I will be happy too if I stay. Zenit are a great club.”
Hulk would improve both clubs
Hulk’s fellow Brazilian Paulinho has already joined the Tottenham ranks and if they hang on to Gareth Bale and sign the Zenit man they could have a real chance of challenging for honours.
Mourinho is still hopeful of signing Napoli star Edinson Cavani and is also keen to develop Romelu Lukaku into a Chelsea star. However, he will need a readymade star striker for next season and if he fails to land Cavani he will go all out to sign Hulk.
