Bale handed praise from legend Zidane

Tottenham fans face a nervous summer as they prepare for a bidding war over Gareth Bale. He has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 22 goals in all competitions.

All of Europe’s top clubs will all be interested if the player decides he wants to leave White Hart Lane. Spurs face a battle to persuade him that Tottenham can match his ambition.

Bale’s decision will be influenced by whether or not Spurs can offer him Champions League football next season. But even if they qualify, would Bale be able to turn down one of the giants of football if they came in for him?

French World Cup winner and Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane spoke yesterday about Bale, saying he is the player that has most impressed him this season.

The Sun write that the former midfielder said: “This year the player who’s impressed me most is not actually playing in the Champions League. He’s playing in “the other cup” and that’s Bale. He’s unique.”

Zidane was asked how Bale compares to the world’s current best two players, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Frenchman responded: “He’s perhaps not quite at the level of the other two but he’s different. So personally I don’t think he’s far off.”

Zidane’s endorsement will certainly flatter the Welshman and may give Real a step up on their rivals in the race to sign the flying winger. The Frenchman now works as Real Madrid’s Director of Football. He has the ear of Real president Florentino Perez, so if Zidane rates a player, Real will probably try to buy him.

Perez fears he will lose Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and is looking for a major signing to keep the fans behind him with the Presidential elections later this year.
