On the half hour mark Barcelona’s dominance led to the opening goal
Xavi exchanged passes with Iniesta in the middle of the park and carried the ball forward. As he approached the box he took his time waiting for the right pass to play.
Pedro peeled away from his marker on the right hand side and Xavi played a perfect pass with the outside of his foot to put his team mate in on goal.
Pedro had enough time to control the ball and slide his shot past Van der Sar in at the near post.
Rooney strikes back
Man Utd raised their game and started pressing Barcelona higher up the pitch. They won the ball on the half way line and Wayne Rooney ran towards the Barcelona box with the ball.
He played it to Ryan Giggs on his right and the Welshman controlled it and laid it back into Rooney’s path. The England striker hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner of Valdes’s goal to level the scores.
It was a great response from United and they had trailed for only seven minutes.
